[Hartford], Conn., June 1, 1882.

[To the Hop Managers]:—

I do not know that I can be there in the body, but I shall be there in spirit anyway—[&] that is an advantage, because I can dance better in the spirit than I can in the body; though perhaps I am at my best when the two are combined [&] I have the spirit in the body, provided it is the right kind of spirit [& ]a good deal of it.
