Hartford, Feb. 21/81.
My Dear Howells:
Livy will write [&] explain to Mrs. Howells why she can’t take advantage of her good hearty invitation; but I don’t know that there is going to be anything the matter with me——so I think you better tell Osgood not to hire a room for me at the Vendome Hotel; [&] say to him that I have invited myself to your house in Brimmer Street, [&] am hoping I shan’t find the place closed up [&] the family flown.
In haste,
Yrs ever,
Mark.
