My Dear Cable:
Roswell Smith has sent us your letter. Now to business. Warner & I had a talk last night. Our idea is thus: That we secure a nice little hall here—Unity Hall—& trot you out before an appreciative little audience—not for pecuniary profit to you, & yet not at any expense to you—but simply for the attainment of these important objects, viz:
1. That you may try your lecture;
2. That you may try your lecture-wings;
3. That you may have the right sort of newspaper attention; and
4. That the total result shall be a valuable advertisement.

If you coincide, all right. We then proceed to the next division of the business—to-wit:
1. Title of the lecture;
2. Date.
“Creole Women” is good.
If that is it—or whatever [some] the title may be—drop us a line & let us know, right away.
Give us a date—not short of 2 weeks hence—& put that in your letter., for we must get right to work. Give us a day or two’s leeway or choice on one or both sides of the date you name, as the hall might happen to be already engaged for the date ‸you‸ especially name.
Then Warner & I will sail in!
