Dear Mr. Stedman:

Twelve days hence (Jan. 22,) Mo the Monday Evening Club meets at our house at 7.30 p.m. Warner is Essayist, & will talk about Modern Fiction. Won’t you come up?—& won’t you take bread & bed in our house? Mrs. Clemens & I will esteem it a great favor if you will be our guest. If you can do this, will you drop me a line naming your train, so that I can meet you at the station?
