Hartford June 23/82.

Dear Jack—

The twins arrived safe & very lively, & were at once delivered to Susie & Clara, who are vastly delighted with them & eloquent with thanks to you for sending them. Both of the creatures have just now been baptised, & duly outfitted with designations suited to their dignity & general dimensions: Clara has named her turtle Alexander Hamilton; Susie names hers the Duchess of Marlborough. If the twins survive these names I reckon they will pull through all right. Susie & Clara send you their warmest thanks & regards.

Sincerely Yours

S L Clemens
