dear charlie:—
the report of the bank note co. looks well, but did you talk with howells’s brother-in-law about it. yes, i would send the play to mr. [thtompkins], with the understanding that he shall return it to you, after the translation is made, for i believe i have no other copy. please thank mr. whitford for his efforts to get me a stenographer, but i had already secured one, just [defore] your letter came. do not forget that i want several of those brass casts made in duplicate, and distributed around among various finishers.
