Dear Folks—
Don’t ,—don’t ask me to [write. I for ]a week or two. I am 18 letters Alta letters behindhand, & I must catch up or bust. I have refused all invitations to lecture in the interior towns of this & neighboring States, & have settled down to work. Don’t know how my book is coming on. —shall leave instructions here to send such money as may accrue from it to Ma every few weeks. [ I It ]may make her rich, or it po may reduce her to abject poverty, possibly.1
I hardly think Dick & Fitzgerald will accept the Sandwich Island book, but if they should, I shall leave the same instructions with them.2
Love to all. In haste,
Yrs [Affty]
Sam
