Short Biography |
Frank Bliss, son of Elisha Bliss, Jr., was treasurer and, after the death of his father (1880), president of the American Publishing Company, which published many of SLC’s works. SLC abandoned the company when Frank succeeded his father, but eventually made a partial return, publishing Pudd’nhead Wilson (1894), Following the Equator (1897), and various collected editions with them. SLC’s main American publisher, Harper and Brothers, bought out the American Publishing Company in October 1903. |
