Dear Clemens:

The pictures of the infants are lovely in the eyes of all of us, and yours is first rate. Thanks for them; we’re ever so glad of them.

Never mind about Tom Sawyer. I rather like the fun of the thing; besides I know I shall do you an injury some day, and I want a grievance to square accounts with.

Mrs. Howells and I accept with joy the possible seats in your possible box, and if we never get them, will try to be just as grateful.

Aldrich was here to-day, and we talked over the Blindfold Novelette business. But we’ve neither of us begun ours. Can’t you send us yours?

Yours ever

W.D.H.

Sorry not to see you act. Did you get the Queen of Hearts? We send regards to Mrs. Clemens, whom we [are] glad to think of seeing soon.
