By this date Orion and Mollie Clemens evidently
had given up their Keokuk chicken ranch and were now living in the town itself, where Orion attempted to establish a law practice
(L6: 25 Apr 1875 to JLC and PAM n. 8; 26 July 1875 to OC, 519–20). He had proposed this latest change of occupation in January (CU-MARK): Clemens was still sending Orion $42 a month in the spring of 1877 (14 May 1877 to OC, n. 1).
