Dear Sir:

I have read the little book through, [&] greatly enjoyed it. I like the straightforward simplicity of its language. The Indian idea of creation is more picturesque [&] poetical than the Biblical one; Handsome Lake’s heaven is much more attractive [&] reasonable than the one in Revelations; [&] among other striking things in the book it is curious to note that the dark-complectioned woman who descended to the watery world was provided with children by miraculous, ([&] let us hope, immaculate) conception.
