Hartford Apl. 24.

Dear Sir:

The invitations have arrived, & althoughs my wife & I will not be able to attend, we desire to wish yourself & the brideg a long life & as happy a one as ours has been. It will not need to be any happier.

I wish to be cordially remembered to your father & mother, whom I knew a good while before you a were born—a fact which reminds me that I am not as young as I am in the habit of imagining myself to be.

Truly Yours

Sam. L. Clemens
