The “W—” referred to in Mark Twain’s articles in the Atlantic Monthly, is the veteran Captain Wiley, the St. Louis and New Orleans pilot now in this city. Captain Wiley received a letter from Mark a few days ago saying he would be in St. Louis this spring and make a trip to New Orleans and back just to look at the old Mississippi once more.1
